Ticket Volume
The count of tickets created in a period — the raw demand signal for a support team.
Ticket volume is the number of contacts arriving over a window (day, week, month). It drives staffing, forecasting, and any conversation about whether the team is keeping up. It is also the most misread number in support, because a big volume can be good news or bad news.
There's no formula beyond the count itself; the meaning lives in the trend and the mix.
What it hides: raw volume says nothing about why contacts arrived. Falling volume can mean a better product or customers giving up on getting help. Rising volume can mean growth or a broken release. Segment by reason and normalise by customer count (see contact rate) before you celebrate or panic.
